Fundraising increases 85% from 2015.
Interest in the Italian private equity and venture capital industry continues to improve, according to figures shared by Anna Gervasoni, CEO of AIFI, at Unquote’s Italian Private Equity Forum.
The industry body witnessed a return of international LP appetite in Italian fundraising. In total, €2.487bn was raised in 2015 – an 85% increase in fundraising from the previous year and exceeding the 2007 total. Almost €1.2bn of this was from international LPs; significant because since the financial crisis, inflows to funds have been dominated by domestic LPs.
Last year also saw the investments made by international funds in Italy returning to pre-crisis levels. The AIFI/PwC figures show that of the €4.62bn invested by private equity in 2015, €3bn of investments were made by international investors through 301 deals.
